Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. We meet every Wednesday from noon to 1:00 p.m. at Shawnee State's Kricker Innovation Hub.
At our July 15th meeting, the Kiwanis Club of Portsmouth was thrilled to welcome two inspiring guest speakers who are making a big impact locally and globally!
🤝 Billie Taylor – Regional Drop-In Center Billie shared the vital work happening right here in Portsmouth. Located at 802 Washington Street, the Drop-In Center provides essential support for anyone facing housing instability, including access to food, water, showers, and laundry. If you or a loved one are facing a crisis or are in need of help, please stop by!
🌍 Alex Smith – The Borgen Project Alex spoke about how The Borgen Project fights for the underdog on a global scale. As an influential ally for the world’s poor, they work directly with leaders of the most powerful countries to improve responses to humanitarian issues. For over 20 years, they’ve been advancing policies that have a large-scale impact on people hit hardest by war, famine, and poverty. See the photos for more information about the End TB Act.
Thank you to both Billie and Alex for taking the time to speak with us and for your dedication to lifting up others! ❤️
