December 3, 2025: Service Leadership Day at our weekly Kiwanis Club luncheon. The meeting is from noon to 1 p.m. at the SSU Kricker Innovation Hub, but please arrive by 11:45 a.m. to give your group time to go through the lunch line. School advisors and club officers are invited to attend and provide an update of club activities and plans for the year to Kiwanis members. Please provide a lunch count to your club advisor by Friday, November 21.
February 28, 2026: Kiwanis Scholarship deadline for graduating seniors who plan to attend Shawnee State University. Find out more on our Scholarships page. ALL requirements must be met in order to be considered.
March 1, 2026: Provide available dates in March/April for Cool Kids Read to visit your second-grade classrooms. We will also need a count of all second graders in your school district.
Wednesday, April 22, 2026: Kiwanis Pancake Day. The club that sells the most tickets wins a pizza party.

Wednesday was Service Leadership Day at our Kiwanis luncheon, and we were thrilled to host members of the Key Clubs at Clay, Portsmouth, Sciotoville Community (East), Wheelersburg, and Notre Dame! They have been busy serving their local community! We are so proud of them. Here is a summary of what each club has been doing:
Sciotoville East High School - 30 members - Conducted Blood Drive - Counseled at Team Leadership Camp - Rang bells for Salvation Army - Held Red Ribbon Week (drug-free campaign) for junior high schools - Participated in Haunted House - Helping this weekend with “A Very Tartan Christmas”
The Notre Dame Schools - 52 members this year - Worked sports concession stands - Assisted with book fair - Volunteered at Winterfest — Say hello this Saturday when you see characters from Paw Patrol walking around from noon to 2 p.m. - Fall Festival at the elementary - Canned food drive for Christmas
Clay Local School District - 45 members with 750 service hours - Volley for a Cure raised $865 for Geralyn White Memorial Scholarship - Volunteered at the Halloween Carnival - Volunteered at Kiwanis Kids Day at Tracy Park - Cool Kids Read—They are trying to read 10 books to second-graders this year - Collected 110 blankets for the American Cancer Society and Rosemount Pavillion Nursing Home - Sold butter braids— donated some of the proceeds to the Kitchen Collective - Worked at the Clay Christmas Bazaar - Currently doing Angel Tree - Helped with Book fair - Ringing the bells for the Salvation Army bell this weekend - Helping with Secret Santa present wrapping - Strawberry sales fundraiser in January/February—past proceeds have gone to CASA, Sierra’s Haven, and the Domestic Women’s Shelter) - Plans to volunteer in the spring at Kiwanis Pancake Day
Portsmouth City Schools - Grew this year from 9 to 29 members (14 new freshmen) - Close to 1,000 service hours - Helped at Kiwanis Rib Day - Volunteered for Operation Christmas Child at Temple Baptist - Volunteered at Kids Day - Prepared Christmas cards for Hillview residents - Conducted a canned food drive, coat drive and blood drive - Volunteered at elementary school carnival and Kiwanis Kids Day - Plans to volunteer in the spring at Kiwanis Pancake Day
Wheelersburg High School - 75 members - Decorated the Wheelersburg park for Christmas - Hosted a Purse bingo event - Decorated pumpkins and delivered to them to nursing home residents - Conducted a Dog and cat food for Sierra’s Haven - Participated in Kiwanis Cool Kids Read - Hosted a blood drive - Participated in the Special Olympics Walkathon - Volunteered at Kiwanis Kids Day - Sold tickets at the middle school musical - They will be ringing bells next week for the Salvation Army at Kroger in Wheelersburg, and participating in Santa in the Park and Winterfest - Making birthday boxes (put ingredients in box w/card) — to be available when food boxes are picked up
